Audio coding
The problem of signal compression is to achieve a low bit rate in the digital representation of an input signal with minimum perceived loss of signal quality. The criteria of the quality of the final result compressed signals is based on human receivers. So rather than traditional and tractable criteria such as minimizing mean square difference between the waveforms, or maximizing the signal-to-noise(SNR) ratio, this algorithm is designed to minimize perceptually meaningful measures of signal distortions. This paper develops a coding scheme for high-quality audio signals which is based on the concept of signal-masking-distortion on the perceptual point of view. Many relative concepts are also represented as for further research or people who is interested in this area.
